Bornholm Ferry Timetable
Bornholmslinjen connects Ystad with Rønne by fast ferry in 80 minutes. Further connections run from Køge near Copenhagen and, seasonally, from Sassnitz.
Which departure port suits you?
Bornholm lies between Sweden, Denmark and Germany, and the port you pick shapes the journey to the island more than the crossing itself. Ystad on the Swedish south coast is the busiest gateway: departures are spread across the day, so the ferry rarely decides when you set off.
Køge, just south of Copenhagen, is the only direct link from mainland Denmark, and it sails overnight. You board late in the evening, sleep through the passage and step ashore in Rønne in the morning. It costs you no daylight, but your train or bus to the port has to run that late.
Sassnitz on Rügen is the one direct connection from Germany, and it saves the detour through Denmark or Sweden. It is also the most seasonal of the three: in late summer it sails on most days, from October only occasionally. Read the timetable above for your date before you build a trip around it.
What to watch out for with the timetable
Two things move the departures above. The first is the season: Ystad and Køge carry the island through the whole year, while Sassnitz is a summer route that thins out sharply in autumn. Look up your exact date rather than carrying over the pattern of another month.
The second is the night sailing from Køge. Its departure belongs to the night leading into the day it is listed under, so a Saturday crossing means being at the quay on Friday evening. Check the date in the timetable, not just the time.
Bringing a vehicle narrows things further. During the Swedish and Danish summer holidays the vehicle decks on popular departures fill up well before the passenger spaces do, and that hits Køge and Sassnitz hardest, because both have fewer sailings to fall back on.

Why is there a departure from Køge at 00:30? +
Because the night ferry actually departs half an hour after midnight, so in the night leading into your booked day. If you're booking for Saturday, you need to be in Køge on Friday evening. Also check whether your train or bus is still running at that time when planning your journey there.
Do the ferries also run in winter? +
Ystad-Rønne and Køge-Rønne run all year round. The connection from Sassnitz, however, is highly seasonal: it runs most days in August and September, but only occasionally from October, mainly on Saturdays.
When should I book? +
As soon as your travel dates are fixed, especially if you're bringing a vehicle. During the Swedish and Danish summer holidays, vehicle spaces on popular departures sell out early, and this hits the Køge and Sassnitz routes, with their limited number of departures, especially hard.
